Returns & Refunds

Last updated: 17 August 2026

Your right to change your mind, how to use it, and what happens if something arrives faulty.

Your right to cancel an online order

For most physical goods bought online, UK consumers normally have a legal right to cancel within 14 days after the day the goods are received. After notifying us of a cancellation, the goods should normally be returned within the period required by applicable law.

How to cancel or request a return

Email hello@lisawhitmorepublishing.co.uk and include your name, order details and a clear statement that you wish to cancel or return the order. We will provide the appropriate return instructions.

Condition of returned goods

You may inspect goods as you would reasonably do in a shop. If handling goes beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods, any refund may be reduced where the law permits.

Return postage

For a change-of-mind cancellation, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods unless we state otherwise. If goods are faulty, damaged or not as described, different rights may apply and we will deal with the return in accordance with applicable consumer law.

Refunds

Where a statutory cancellation right applies and is properly exercised, refunds will be made in accordance with applicable UK consumer law, including any delivery amount that the law requires us to refund. We may wait until returned goods are received, or until evidence of return is supplied, where the law allows.

Personalised products and signed books

Goods made to a customer's specifications or clearly personalised may be exempt from the usual change-of-mind cancellation right. A book will not automatically be treated as non-returnable merely because it is signed. Where a product is genuinely personalised — for example, with a specific personal dedication requested by the customer — we will make this clear before purchase. This does not remove rights relating to faulty or misdescribed goods.

Digital content and e-books

Digital content has different cancellation rules. Where a digital product is supplied immediately, we may ask for your express consent to begin supply during the 14-day cancellation period and for your acknowledgement that you will lose the cancellation right once supply begins, where the law permits. Any required consent will be obtained before the digital content is supplied.

Faulty or incorrect items

If you receive an item that is faulty, damaged or not as described, contact us at hello@lisawhitmorepublishing.co.uk. Your statutory rights are not affected by this policy.
